A very substantial English watch. The dial, perfect apart from a couple of small hairlines at the 12, is signed "A.Gold, London, Universal English Lever". I don't know what a UE lever is but it is English lever 90 deg. layout with false fusee. The movement is signed Lancashire watch Company No. 837233.of London and Prescot and has a reversing pinion to protect the train from spring failure.A very good example of the English catching up with Swiss and US technology but not willing to sacrifice the appearance of the anticlockwise winding of a real fusee. The Solid Silver case is Hallmarked by the Chester Assay Office for the year of 1908. It also carries the mark G.S.B (G.S.Burt of LWCo.)as the case maker. It shows some light scratching and one small dent through normal wear but this watch is lovely. £125
