A
great opportunity to acquire a lovely example of English watchmaking, retailed
by A.Gold, at a time when our industry was trying to fend off Swiss
and Americans. This 55mm dia watch is hallmarked for 1912. The case is in super
condition with tight hinges. Watch case and movement are by the famous manufacturer
William.Ehrhardt with the movement showing one of their marks, British Watch
Company Ltd. It has a false fusee to meet the Old English appearance by winding
anti clockwise but at a more competitive cost. Also marked "Warranted made
in England"causing them to be taken into a legal case when they used some
Swiss parts. The dial has one chip at 12 o'clock, not visible in use. A very
usable watch. This little part of English Watchmaking History is offered at
an attractive price of £150.
