English Lever Fusee in a
silver case, Hallmarked Chester 1896, signed JF (Joseph Felton?) . The case
has only one small dent on the inside of the rear cover and shows little evidence
of wear considering its age. The edges of the engine turning are smooth but
the centre is still prominent with an unengraved cartouche. The bow swivels
easily but has no sideways play. Pressing the button in the hallmarked pendant
springs open the back cover which has matching hallmarks.A key wound and set
movement, typically unmarked but with a diamond endstone set in a nicely decorated
balance cock. The movement fits perfectly to the case and the hinge is tight,
although the bottom catch is a little slack. The dial has a few small hair
lines but mostly perfect. The hands, especially the second hand, are very
good. Price £145
